Band of Four

Name: Brother Octavian, a.k.a. John
Age: 22
Hair/Eyes: Blond and hazel-green.
A particular note of pride for St. Matthew's Abbey, Octavian is one of the leading scribners of his day. His specialties, aside from Latin, Greek, French and German, include a bizzare and apparently previously unheard-of text that he recently aquired. Using the monastary's resources, he has concluded that the text belongs to the legendary race of creatures known as elves, and has spent the last five years attempting to translate it. This text, which is called The Aversion, actually contains an incantation to stop the Apocalypse, which Octavian discovers is sorely needed. Currently, poor Octavian has been excommunicated from his abbey, and has wound up quite sloshed at a seedy bar called The Cloak and Dagger, where he has been reunited with his longtime friend, Raoul. Unfortunately, Daemos and Pip have followed him there, and although he and Raoul have slipped out from beneath the demons' noses, they are now being attacked by a surly lady with a long sword.

Name: Daemos
Age: old enough for him to lose count, though he usually appears to be in his late 20's to early 30's
Hair/Eyes: Black/brown/serpentine.
Also known as Brother Thackery of the Dominicans in his human guise, Daemos has journeyed up from Hell with terrible news--the Apocalypse has started early. Although he first stole The Aversion from Octavian, when the monk gave chase he decided to let Octavian tag along. He is skilled at shifting guises, using fire to transform. Currently, Daemos had tracked down Octavian yet again, but the only reward for his efforts was to be stabbed in the back by a disgruntled patron of the Cloak and Dagger. The encounter was painful, though not fatal, and has left him extremely angry.

Name: Pip
Age: 2,500, or thereabouts, though she usually aims for early- to mid-twenties.
Hair/Eyes: Electric blue/black
Calling herself Sister Regina Maria Magdalena in her human form, Daemos' companion from Hell seems less worried about the coming End of the World. Instead, she takes pleasure in bugging both Octavian and Daemos whenever she gets the chance. There seems to be an odd connection between her and Daemos, as evidenced by her becoming stuck in her true demon form when he was stabbed. Currently, she has regained her human form, though she appears slightly the worse for wear.
Name: The Falconer
Age: unknown, though she appears to be mid-to-late twenties.
Hair/Eyes: red-brown/brown
Her name is translated from the Elvish "Na Tre`lum i Sashaa"--literally, The Keeper of the Birds. A toughened warrior, strict and blunt, she has been seen hunting around Britain for a "raven-haired thief", and is at present closing in on her prey. Her favored weapon is her large sword, Khalimkaleh (That Which is Sharp), and she does not hesitate in the least to use it or her fists if someone is barring her from her goal. Currently, it seems that she has found her prey--Raoul of Pengirth, Octavian's childhood friend. In order to catch up to this fleet-footed thief however, she's already had to stab someone out of her way--Daemos.
Name: Raoul Pengirth
Age:24
Hair/Eyes: black/grey
Raoul is Octavian's friend from days long since past, and a member of the notorious (and secretive) Brotherhood of the Light Hands--a thieving society. Although he has not seen Octavian in many years, the two have no trouble confiding in one another over many rounds of ale, reunited in the equally notorious Cloak and Dagger. Poetic and rich in attire, this dandy has fooled and eluded many people, including the Falconer who has been hunting him for quite some time. Currently, Raoul is being attacked by the Falconer.

The Monks

Name: Brother Julian
Age: 43
Hair/Eyes: brown/brown.
Octavian's mentor and friend, it was Julian who first took in the young scribe and taught Octavian how to read and write. It was also Julian who first gave The Aversion to Octavian as a gift, having unknowingly purchased it from Raoul. Although he doesn't believe that the book Octavian translates is in fact Elvish, he admits that he doesn't know who, or where, it originally came from.
Name: Abbot Bartholomew (deceased)
Age: 67
Hair/Eyes: white/brown
Abbot of St. Matthew's abbey, Bartholomew is highly regarded by all of the brothers under his care. He is kind, and his judgement is considered even and fair. When the abbey was burning, he heroically kept going back in to look for stragglers and sufferred serious injuries for his efforts. Sadly, this proved to be too much for the elderly monk, and he died. The loss of St. Matthew's spiritual leader has left a terrible impact on the other monks, and gave rise to hot tempers and finger-pointing, much of which was directed at Octavian.
Name: Brother Stephan
One of Octavian's fellow Franciscan brothers.
Name: Brother Flavius
Another Franciscan monk, Flavius is most known as being the keeper of the Sacramental wine.
Name: Brother Ignatious
Age: Early 40's
Hair/Eyes: graying dark blond/grey
Brother Ignatious is a visiting monk of the newly created Jesuit order. He is suspicious and usually very cynical.
Noviates Francis, Luke, and Thaddeus, from left to right
Noviate Francis is the ward of Brother Ignatious, and is a Jesuit monk-in-training. He has a high opinion of himself and Brother Ignatious, and a low opinion of everything else. Noviates Luke and Thaddeus are Franciscans-in-training, and have generally looked up to Octavian since their coming to St. Matthew's. All three boys are in the third stage of becoming a monk (the Noviate stage), and are between 13 and 16 years of age.

The Infernals

Name: Avir
Age: irrelevent
Hair/Eyes: the color of green bile/yellow and deadly as a death adder's
This Lord of Hell appears to be a major player in the Underworld, and although not much is known about her intentions or motives, it is clear that she is definitely schemeing something big. Avir knows about the prematurely started Apocalypse, and although it appears that a few snags have appeared in her plans, overall she is unsettlingly confident about a successful outcome.
Name: Death a.k.a. Taos
Age: the end of time
Hair/Eyes: purple dreadlocks/(?)
Loaded down with work and also in on the premature Apocalypse, Death is much more worried about exposure than Avir. Additionally, he disapproves of her unleashing the mysterious force of "Ba'al" upon the world.

Wranglers

Name: Vallerjo
Age: 32
Hair/Eyes: blonde/blue
Occupation: Self "retired" agent of the B.D.C., Vallerjo is a high-ranking member of the organization. He has recently been forced back to work, much to his annoyance.
Vallerjo wants nothing more than to enjoy his well-earned luxurious lifestyle; sitting in a velvet smoking jacket, drinking brandy and reading the latest issue of Forbes. His opinion of himself and his past work is extremely high, and he appears to care little about others--though he does seem to have half a soft spot for his cousin Marvista. Such reverence is apparently not shared by his employers, however, and Vallerjo and Alpha butt heads at every moment.
Name: Marvista
Age:16
Hair/Eyes: blonde, with the front side parts dyed pink/blue
Occupation: child miscreant
Marvista is Vallerjo's cousin. She showed up at 3 a.m. on his doorstep accompanied by a full police force, and promptly got sick in Vallerjo's 12th-century Chinese vase. She seems to be naught but a user, and has a propensity towards large quantities of alcohol. Marvista was swept up in Vallerjo's reunion with the B.D.C. by her own unfortunate timing.
Name: Aridele
Age: 27
Hair/Eyes: robin's egg blue/unknown (he wears a blindfold!)
Occupation: "Herder", whatever that is, and Vallerjo's partner.
Aridele is the newest addition to the B.D.C. family, though he's off to a rough start. After being shown the ugly side of the city, he finally found his way to the Bureau, only to meet a wholly unenthusiastic Vallerjo--whom he promptly whacked over the head with his large wooden staff. Aridele is slowly realizing (much to his horror) exactly what he has been thrown into. A native of Iowa, this young man has already proven that he's far tougher than he looks, and enjoys lime with his Chai tea.
Name: Alpha
Age: 52
Hair/Eyes: black with silver side streaks/brown
Occupation:Big Cheese of the B.D.C., and Vallerjo's boss
Fond of Nehru/Mandarin-collared jackets, Alpha is the head of the B.D.C. Fiery-tempered, he just wants everything to run smoothly in the Bureau, something that Vallerjo constantly disrupts. Despite loathing V's egoism, he begrudgingly acknowledges that his top agent does have skills. Much of his anger is directed at the source (Vallerjo) when he can, but otherwise it's shifted to his second, Omega.
Name: Omega
Age: 28
Hair/Eyes: wavy dark blonde/green
Occupation:Alpha's personal assistant/gopher
While Alpha may be the one barking orders, Omega's the one making sure they get done. Quiet and slightly cynical, Omega seems able to see the "big picture" of things--and as such prefers to stay out of the way of Alpha's wrath as much as possible. Much too often for his taste Omega gets saddled with mundane and "beneath his status" tasks--such as fetching a visiting agent his tea or shining shoes.
Name: Martini
Age: unknown
Hair/Eyes/Skin: neon blue/totally black/olive green
Occupation:Vallerjo's pet
Martini is an imp, and is rather like a very smart dog. Little is known about him except that he enjoys car rides and dislikes Marvista.
Name: Rogers
Age: 30
Hair/Eyes: red/green
Occupation:security guard for the Federal Tax Reserve (a.k.a. the B.D.C.)
Rogers is the security guard for the B.D.C., and first line of defense against anyone wandering into the Bureau from off the streets.
Name: Rogers' boss
Age: 47
Hair/Eyes: dark brown with a silver streak/brown
Occupation: head of security for the B.D.C.
Rogers' boss is in command of the elite security team that guards the B.D.C.--and brings in any wayward employees. He's a very cool customer, and probably knows everything that goes on inside the Bureau.
